LOCATION: This is an onsite job placement at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, 600 N. Lake Formosa Drive, Orlando, FL 32803

POSITION DATE: June 2024

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, salaried, exempt

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role:

Orlando Ballet is seeking a driven, solution-oriented, and highly organized individual with proven project management success with large-scale fundraising events, strong interpersonal skills, and exceptional attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the classical arts and a commitment to supporting Orlando Ballet in its mission to entertain, educate, and enrich through the highest quality of dance.

Under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy – Leadership Giving and Special Campaigns, the Special Events Officer will work to increase individual and corporate contributed revenue in support of Orlando Ballet’s fundraising events, including Orlando Ballet’s signature annual fundraiser, the Ballet Ball. In addition, the role will oversee global event needs for Orlando Ballet, including but not limited to events and partner activations for Marketing and Orlando Ballet School.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

     -Oversee planning, logistics, and communications for all Orlando Ballet fundraising and cultivation events, including but not limited to: Open Rehearsals; Drinks with Dancers; Donor Receptions; the annual Ballet Ball; Marketing partner activations; and School events

-Assist with the creation and execution of a cultivation and engagement plan for Orlando Ballet constituents and guests attending cultivation and fundraising events

-Assist with the maintenance of constituent communication lists to support event invitations and stewardship activities

-Assist with the creation and fulfillment of accurate and current revenue, attendance, and prospect reports as requested by the Philanthropy team, Board Members, and other departments

-In close partnership with the Philanthropy Operations Manager, ensure that all event contributions are accepted, recorded, and acknowledged in an accurate and timely manner

-Work closely with the Philanthropy team to:

-Create and promote consistent donor messaging

-Execute fundraising, donor recognition, and cultivation events throughout the Season

-Identify new or existing prospects for all funding streams

-Ensure that all donor and sponsor benefits are fulfilled

-Ensure accurate tracking and reporting

-Identify and recruit volunteers and committee members to assist in supporting development initiatives

-Serve on Orlando Ballet Board Committees as appropriate, including but not limited to the Ballet Ball Committee

-Support all aspects of the Philanthropy team as needed, including attendance of Season performances, the Ballet Ball, and all fundraising and cultivation events

-Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications: 

-Bachelor’s degree in a related field

-Minimum 4 years of work experience in a nonprofit development environment with event experience and demonstrated results

-Proven track record of ability to work independently, with great attention to detail and flexibility, in a fast-paced atmosphere under established time constraints

-Excellent organizational, writing, customer service, and communications skills

-Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn

-Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications:      

-Bachelor’s degree in philanthropic studies, nonprofit management, or hospitality

-Professional background in nonprofit arts environment

-Personal passion for the classical arts, particularly dance

-Experience with digital communication platforms, specifically WordFly

-Experience with donor management and wealth screening software (particularly Tessitura and iWave)

-Basic graphic design, photography, and video capability, ie. experience with Canva or other similar platforms
