Job Description:

Edible Education Experience is seeking a Kitchen House Manager to oversee the efficient maintenance, operation, and cleaning of the Emeril Lagassee Kitchen House.   The successful candidate will have an interest in working with a creative and compassionate team of staff and volunteers who are committed to bringing our mission to life.  This position is a key function for our growing, thriving nonprofit organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of the Kitchen House and its equipment
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the Kitchen House
  • Work as House Manager during rentals both weeknights and weekends
  • Provide regular cleaning (as needed, between weekly janitorial service)
  • Take inventory, order supplies, and evaluate cost-efficiency
  • Lead site visits for potential renters
  • Complete and document general maintenance according to schedule
  • Open and/or close of Kitchen House as needed for services, rentals, etc.
  • Oversee clean-up after events and programs
  • Connect with volunteers to help them feel welcome and useful in the clean-up process or in performing tasks
  • Work with the Executive Director & Program Director to review event calendar to provide the best support possible

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe certified manager (may be completed after hiring)
  • Familiarity with Google docs, Google sheets, email, and text
  • One-three years general maintenance and facility experience, preferably in a kitchen/restaurant environment
  • Strong ability to communicate with all levels of staff, i.e. executive management and all staff, both written and verbally
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation to complete tasks on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis and address items as they arise
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, chefs, clients, volunteers, and guests
  • Ability to work as a team to meet the needs of the organization and its clients
  • Familiarity with kitchen settings and ability to develop positive relationships with all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, chefs, gardeners, staff, and community.

 

Working Conditions

The job requires occasional evening and weekend hours, with some responsibilities for outdoor maintenance.  Must be able to interact with a variety of people, including children. Must be able to anticipate and mitigate risks inherent with cooking and the facility/property.


Physical/Mental Requirements 

The ability to be self-directed, stand for extended periods of time, walk, drive and bend frequently. Must have the ability to: see and hear well, lift somewhat heavy objects (20-30lb.) on a regular basis, use a computer and phone, climb on step stools or small ladders, manage a timely task list, receive and follow through on instructions and requested tasks from others.


Must be able to make timely decisions, handle a high degree of flexibility, handle multiple priorities, work alone, work in areas that are crowded, and accept flexible schedules.

  • COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour, non-exempt part-time position (20 hours per week) with the ability to add additional hours as Kitchen House Rental
