Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank secures and distributes food and grocery products to more than 870 local nonprofit feeding partners throughout Central Florida. With the help of food and financial donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributes 300,000 meals every day to a seven-county service area, which includes Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Feeding neighbors facing hunger is only the beginning. We're seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Generalist to join our team and assist in supporting the daily operations of the department with a focus on attracting and retaining top talent to support our organization in helping to meet the hunger needs in the Central Florida Community. 


Work Hours

Onsite Monday- Friday: 8:30AM – 5:00PM, some flexibility needed; Evenings as needed to attend job fairs; Ability to travel within coverage area as needed


Job Summary

This position will support the Human Resource department with all its Recruiting needs, executing the full lifecycle recruiting process, working with the organization managers to help fill vacancies and needs. In addition, this position will also provide general Human Resources support to staff as needed.


Job Responsibilities

Recruitment (Primary Focus)

1. Work with managers to develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process.

2. Provide consultation and training to hiring managers regarding recruitment and selection processes as well as interviewing

3. Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and draft accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.

4. Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization; Source candidates using various methods to develop candidate pipelines.

5. Post and maintain job advertisements across multiple platforms and job boards.

6. Maintain applicant tracking system while reviewing applications and screening candidates in order to select qualified candidates to present to managers. 

7. Work with Human Resources Coordinator to schedules interviews; oversee preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.

8. Ensure evaluation forms for interviewed candidates are completed by each interviewer.

9. Extend offers to selected candidates; Negotiate salaries as needed and permitted.

10. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.

11. Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential candidates through networking, job fairs, and community outreach.

12. Develop relationships with local college Experiential Learning offices to encourage internship and job shadowing opportunities. 

13. Provide support to the coordinator as needed to ensure candidates make it through the hiring process to include completing drug screen and background check.

14. Coordinate start dates with Human Resources Manager and hiring managers.

General Human Resources Duties

1. Assist with onboarding and orientation processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.

2. Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS and personnel files as needed.

3. Support employee relations by responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner.

4. Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date and consistently followed.

5. Assist with HR compliance activities including audits, reporting, and file maintenance.

6. Help plan and support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.

Requirements


Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required

  

  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing full life cycle recruiting
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience providing general Human Resources support
  • Experience building and maintaining recruitment pipelines
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations and compliance requirements 
  • Awareness of emerging trends, advancements, and innovations in the field.
  • Proficiency in tools, systems, or software related to the role (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Applicant Tracking Systems)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain information to various audiences and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and minimize errors
  • Understanding of how to collect, analyze, and interpret relevant data
  • Ability to use tools and methodologies for analyzing and resolving challenges
  • Ability to break down problems to find actionable solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive results with minimal supervision 

Desired Skills and/or Certifications

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification
  • Recruitment experience in the non-profit field
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
