REPORTS TO: Director of Philanthropy (Interim: Executive Director)

LOCATION: This is an onsite job placement at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, 600 N. Lake Formosa Drive, Orlando, FL 32803

POSITION DATE: January 2025

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, salaried, exempt

COMPENSATION: $57,500-60,000 annually, commensurate with experience

BENEFITS: All standard in coordination with employee handbook

 

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role:

The Grants Manager will play a critical role in securing and managing grant funding from local, regional, state, and national government sources, private foundations, and corporate foundations to support Orlando Ballet’s annual operations, special projects, and strategic initiatives.


Orlando Ballet is seeking a driven, self-motivated highly organized individual with proven grant writing and post-award administration ability, strong writing and relationship-building skills, the ability to manage data, a desire for a career in development, and a commitment to supporting Orlando Ballet in its mission to entertain, educate and enrich through the highest quality of dance.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Grant Strategy & Research

  • Directly manage a personal portfolio of grant funding prospects to secure up to $1.2 million in philanthropic revenue to support annual targets.
  • Proactively identify, research, and qualify new sources of grant funding to meet annual targets.
  • Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar, including application deadlines and reporting schedules.

Proposal Development & Department Writing

  • Collaborate with cross-departmental colleagues - including sales and marketing, Orlando Ballet School, community enrichment, artistic, production, and others - to create compelling cases for support and detailed programmatic budgets
  • Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals in alignment with organizational priorities and strategic plan.
  • Serve as the lead writer for the Philanthropy department, including:
  • Drafting mail and email solicitations.
  • Writing narratives for donor newsletters.
  • Creating other written materials as needed to support fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Collaborate cross-department and other colleagues to create and promote consistent donor messaging

Post-Award Administration & Stewardship

  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including timely reporting and acknowledgment.
  • In partnership with the Director of Philanthropy and Marketing Department, coordinate public recognition for funders, and the timely acknowledgment of and reporting on grants or sponsors
  • Maintain accurate records of awards and payments in Tessitura

Impact Measurement & Data Management

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of impact measurement tools; collect and catalog data for reporting and evaluation.

Relationship Management

  • Schedule and attend meetings with prospects and existing funders, with or without the Director of Philanthropy/Executive Director.
  • Maintain effective relationships with funders and serve as a liaison for Community Enrichment initiatives when needed.

Team Collaboration & Events

  • Support Philanthropy team activities, including some evening and weekend events such as season performances, fundraising events, and cultivation and stewardship events.
  • Serve on Board Committees as appropriate (e.g., Cultivation & Stewardship and Community Enrichment).
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as philanthropic studies or nonprofit management.  Certificates in fundraising may be considered with appropriate experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in a non-profit fundraising
  • Demonstrated and significant grant proposal writing and management experience
  • Proven track record of ability to work independently, with great attention to detail and flexibility, in a fast-paced atmosphere under established time constraints
  • Excellent organizational, writing, customer service, and communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with online grant management tools and donor databases (e.g., Tessitura, Instrumentl).

Preferred Qualifications:               

  • Advanced degree and/or CFRE credential
  • Professional background in nonprofit arts environment
  • Personal passion for the arts, particularly dance
  • Familiar with online grant management tools, such as Instrumentl
