This position is with our Employment Connections program, which works with non-custodial parents who have child support cases in Florida. We address barriers to employment, support, and train individuals, and place them into a sustainable job for retention. This program is designed to address the barriers to employment and provides supportive case management in addition to employment placements. Our programs require a criminal background to be completed prior to hire. 


Job Description

The Employment Specialist will play a key role in the Employment Connections program, providing comprehensive job readiness support to participants through a “whole person” approach. The role includes delivering services that help participants not only gain employment but also retain it. The Employment Specialist will assist participants in areas such as resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, digital literacy, and career counseling. The goal is to empower participants with the skills, confidence, and tools needed for sustained economic independence. Must be Spanish speaking


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Participant Support:
    • Conduct assessments to understand each participant’s employment readiness, strengths, barriers, as well as overall life skills.
    • Provide one-on-one career counseling to guide participants in exploring career paths, setting goals, and developing action plans.
    • Help participants craft effective resumes, highlighting skills and experiences tailored to the job market.
  2. Workshops and Training:
    • Lead workshops on resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation, ensuring participants are equipped with practical tools.
    • Facilitate sessions on soft skills development, including teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.
    • Provide digital literacy training, focusing on essential computer skills, internet navigation, and email etiquette.
    • Deliver financial literacy workshops on budgeting, saving, and basic financial planning to help participants manage their finances once employed.
  3. Job Search Assistance:
    • Guide participants through job search strategies, including utilizing online job boards and networking.
    • Assist participants in applying for jobs, tailoring applications, and preparing for interviews through role-playing exercises and coaching.
    • Collaborate with local employers to create job placement opportunities and facilitate introductions.
  4. Job Retention Support:
    • Offer ongoing support to participants post-employment, ensuring they have the resources and skills to retain their positions.
    • Work with participants to address any barriers they face in maintaining employment and provide solutions through additional coaching or resources.
  5. Event Coordination:
    • Plan and organize job fairs, hosting local businesses for on-site interviews and networking events.
    • Coordinate employer presentations and networking sessions to connect participants with potential opportunities.
  6. Community Outreach and Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and social services to create a robust support network for participants.
    • Work closely with other program staff to ensure comprehensive services are delivered and that participants' “whole-person” needs are addressed.
  7. Data Tracking and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate participant records, including progress, job placements, and retention rates.
    • Collect and report data on program outcomes, preparing reports as required.
    • Analyze data to identify areas for program improvement and participant success stories.

Requirements/Must:

· Bilingual: Spanish 

· Your own working transportation with proof of car insurance coverage

· Valid driver’s license

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Workforce Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in employment services, workforce development, or career counseling.
  • Knowledge of and experience in social services case management.
  • Knowledge of job search strategies, resume writing, interview techniques, and job retention strategies.
  • Experience delivering training or workshops related to job readiness or soft skills development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Microsoft Office, job search platforms, and social media.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the mission of Cornerstone Connections.

Additional Information:

Job Type: Salary Exempt- Provide desired salary requirements- Full Time (40 hours)

Work Location: In person – This is NOT a work from home position.

Bilingual: Spanish or French-Creole a plus
