Position: Education and Community Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Education and Community
Status: Full-time, Non Exempt
Salary: $18.50/hour
Benefits: Available after 60-day waiting period
Job Summary
The Education and Community Coordinator is part of the Education department and works closely with the Director of Education and Community. The ideal candidate for this position will be an independent worker familiar with the education and community programs of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. This person will be responsible for implementing and executing the programs within the education department. They must be able to work flexible hours, with some nights and weekends required.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure that OPO education and community programs are engaging, effective, and reflect best practices
• Research current learning approaches and trends in educational content, communications, and delivery
• Design and oversee scheduling and implementation of programs both school-based and community-based
• Work within budgets set by department director
• As an integral member of the Education and Community team, contribute to overall program development and future direction
• Provide on-site leadership and oversight at education and community engagement programs.
• Provide support and other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Comfort and experience in both music performance and education settings
• Ability to multitask and prioritize working on various projects simultaneously
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
• Must be able to travel to different locations for services
Preferred Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree in a music or arts administration related field
• Advanced knowledge of non-profit organizations
• Excellent customer service skills
• Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize workload.
• Ability to work long hours and nontraditional shifts, evenings, and weekends due to performance schedule.
• Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Drive, SharePoint
• Experience with OPAS and Tessitura
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a personal vehicle
