Development Officer
Rescue Outreach Mission of Central Florida, Inc. is a 119-bed housing-focused emergency shelter program serving men, women and families with children who are experiencing homelessness. It is the only program of its kind in Seminole County and is part of a regional effort to end homelessness through the framework of trauma-informed care, client choice and community collaboration. In coordination with service providers across Central Florida, our goal is to increase financial resources, improve housing stability, and connect guests to mainstream benefits and community resources that will allow for long-term success.
The Development Officer must have a proven ability to drive revenue to help grow the mission of Rescue Outreach Mission. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and growing successful initiatives, as well as creating new revenue streams with an emphasis on individual, corporate, and community and faith partners. A successful candidate will maintain excellent donor relationships, understanding of donor databases, moves management and have knowledge of those experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Understanding of Rescue Outreach Mission’s mission, values, vision, programs and structure.
Relationship building, (Cultivation) maintaining existing donors (Stewardship), to meet goals (Moves Management).
Maintain, oversee and track all contacts for assigned portfolio and connections through Donor database.
Develop reports as requested (prospects, new donors, lapsed donors, sponsorship activities, moves management updates).
Oversee sponsorship growth strategies for all events to increase corporate giving, individual and major gifts.
Recruit donor prospects through tours of Rescue Outreach Mission (individuals and groups) and follow up.
Serve as Rescue Outreach Mission representative and present at networking events that are beneficial to development/fundraising activities.
Other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Passion for the role, organization, and cause.
Proven skills in donor management and development
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population is a must: superior interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
Service and stewardship mentality and ability to work collaboratively
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and volunteers
Compassion, initiative, good judgment, and excellent listening skills.
Excellent computer skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point.
Strong customer service skills in person and on the phone.
Able to manage multiple tasks with positive results.
Ability to lift to 25 pounds, walk, bend, turn, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
Time Requirements:
The Development Officer is a full time salaried, exempt position requiring working some nights and weekends.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or other related field; the equivalent of combination of education and work experience is acceptable.
