
Development Director Individual Giving & Major Gifts
SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE
The Director of Individual Giving & Major Gifts will lead the development of a new individual giving and major gifts team with a focus on managing a $2M revenue portfolio annually. This role is responsible for building and growing the individual donor base, developing a membership program, and driving transformational giving opportunities. The Director of Individual Giving & Major Gifts will oversee individual donor engagement, recurring giving programs, year-end giving campaigns, and leverage data-driven insights to achieve revenue growth. This role is pivotal to advancing Give Kids The World’s mission and expanding donor impact.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Build and Grow Individual Giving & Major Gifts Programs
- Establish a comprehensive individual giving strategy to grow revenue.
- Develop and implement a membership program to increase donor retention and build sustainable recurring revenue.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors to secure transformational and major gifts.
- Implement creative campaigns such as EOY Giving, Giving Tuesday, and other annual giving opportunities to engage and expand the donor base.
- Identify new individual donor prospects and create personalized cultivation plans to grow donor pipelines.
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Create and implement donor engagement strategies to strengthen relationships with new and existing donors.
- Develop a robust recurring giving program with targeted communications, recognition, and retention strategies.
- Lead stewardship initiatives, ensuring donors at all giving levels receive meaningful and personalized acknowledgment.
- Conduct donor visits, calls, and meetings to engage prospects, deepen connections, and secure commitments.
Strategic Prospecting and Data Insights
- Leverage data analysis and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to identify trends, new prospects, and growth opportunities within the donor pipeline.
- Track and analyze individual giving metrics, providing regular reports to inform strategic decision-making.
- Partner with the Marketing Team to develop messaging, collateral, and appeals that inspire donors to give.
Operational Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Development, Marketing, and Guest Services to align individual giving strategies with organizational goals.
- Lead donor cultivation events, including membership program gatherings, stewardship tours, and transformational gift presentations.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and KPIs for the individual giving and major gifts program, ensuring revenue targets are met or exceeded.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OUTSIDE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to travel locally and nationally for donor meetings, events, and cultivation activities.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for fundraising events and donor engagement.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform computer-based work.
- Able to work in outdoor weather conditions.
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated experience managing and growing individual giving and major gifts portfolios, including annual fundraising campaigns.
- Proven success in securing transformational or major gifts from individual donors.
- Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to build and execute multi-year fundraising strategies.
- Experience developing membership programs or recurring giving initiatives to drive sustained revenue growth.
- Proficiency in data analysis, donor segmentation, and CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) to drive strategic decision-making.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage donors at all levels.
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in individual giving, major gifts, or donor development roles.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with transformational gift strategies and donor cultivation.
- Strong knowledge of non-profit fundraising trends and donor engagement best practices.
- CFRE certification or equivalent credential.
