This two-day, 6-hour workshop will encourage participants to take a deep dive into the structure of their volunteer program. Attendees will explore and map out their organization's distinct volunteer policies and procedures, develop a volunteer job description, identify recruitment & onboarding strategies, and build an annual calendar. Participants will leave with actionable tools and strategies to enhance their volunteer program.  

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop clear and comprehensive volunteer policies, procedures, and job descriptions aligned with organizational goals and values.
  • Identify a variety of recruitment strategies to meet their specific volunteerism needs.
  • Understand the best practices for volunteer onboarding, including applications, orientations, and ongoing training to improve volunteer readiness.
  • Build an annual calendar outlining key volunteer onboarding, recruitment timelines, and training sessions, ensuring consistent and structured engagement throughout the year.

*If you are part of either the in-person or virtual 2025 Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership cohort, this workshop may be used to fulfill either your Mission Delivery or Infrastructure elective requirement.

Instructor: Erin Webb

Erin Webb is the Program Manager at the Edyth Bush Institute responsible for custom training and education. This includes working with clients to coordinate specialized instruction in the nonprofit sector surrounding areas of board governance, fundraising, leadership, marketing, volunteer management, and more. An Orlando native, Erin has been serving the Central Florida nonprofit sector for many years as both a volunteer and a leader. She is passionate about collaboration, connection, creative programming, and using data to share stories. Above all, she has a deep devotion to strengthening her community and working across sectors to do so.

Erin is a proud graduate of Stetson University holding a BS degree in Biology and a BA degree in Psychology. In her free time, Erin enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her family, friends, and 3 dogs.
