About New Hope for Kids:
Since 1996, New Hope for Kids has been helping Central Florida children in need. Our purpose is to bring hope, healing and happiness to children and families suffering from grief, loss, or life-threatening illnesses. New Hope for Kids achieves this through two programs:
The Center for Grieving Children helps children and families cope with the feelings of grief and loss after the death of a loved one.
Wishes for Kids grants wishes to children up to the age 19, diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Position Overview:
New Hope for Kids is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors as a Director. As a member of the Board, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring the sustainability of our programs, and expanding our reach within the community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your leadership skills, experience, and vision to a cause that makes a profound impact on the lives of grieving children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure that New Hope for Kids fulfills its mission and achieves its goals.
- Governance: Participate in governance and policy-making processes to uphold the organization's integrity, accountability, and transparency.
- Fundraising and Resource Development: Support and participate in fundraising initiatives to secure the financial sustainability of New Hope for Kids. Leverage personal and professional networks to increase awareness and support for the organization.
- Community Engagement: Function as an ambassador for New Hope for Kids, building and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and partners.
- Program Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, ensuring they meet the needs of grieving children and align with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Financial Stewardship: Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and ensure the organization's financial health.
- Board Development: Contribute to the recruitment, orientation, and development of new board members.
Qualifications:
- Commitment: A deep commitment to the mission of New Hope for Kids and a passion for helping children and families.
- Experience: Prior experience in board service, nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community engagement is highly desirable.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to think strategically and govern effectively.
- Networking: Strong connections within the community and the ability to leverage those relationships for the benefit of the organization.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding of fiscal management and budgeting processes.
- Communication: Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Time Commitment:
Directors are expected to attend quarterly board meetings, participate in committee work, and actively engage in fundraising and community events. The estimated time commitment is [X hours] per month.
Term Length:
Board members serve a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
