Join a vibrant community of nonprofit middle managers for a thought-provoking virtual book club centered on Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. This isn’t your typical book group, it’s a space for reflection, connection, and practical insight designed specifically for those who turn strategy into action every day. 

Over the course of two interactive sessions, we’ll dive into the Heath brothers’ framework: the Rider, the Elephant, and the Path and explore how to apply it to real organizational challenges. You’ll learn how to lead through influence, motivate teams, and sustain momentum even when change feels hard. 

What to Expect: 

  • Collaborative Learning: Connect with peers who understand the unique challenges of managing from the middle. 
  • Practical Application: Translate key ideas from Switch into tools for guiding your team, managing up, and keeping projects on track. 
  • Peer Support: Share experiences, gain feedback, and build a supportive network of changemakers across the nonprofit sector. 

Whether you’re implementing new initiatives, navigating shifting priorities, or helping your team adapt to change, this book club will equip you with fresh strategies and renewed confidence to make change happen right where you are.

Instructors:

Erin Webb

Erin Webb is the Assistant Director, Educational Experiences at the Edyth Bush Institute responsible for custom training and education. This includes working with clients to coordinate specialized instruction in the nonprofit sector surrounding areas of board governance, fundraising, leadership, marketing, volunteer management, and more. An Orlando native, Erin has been serving the Central Florida nonprofit sector for many years as both a volunteer and a leader. She is passionate about collaboration, connection, creative programming, and using data to share stories. Above all, she has a deep devotion to strengthening her community and working across sectors to do so.

Erin is a proud graduate of Stetson University holding a BS degree in Biology and a BA degree in Psychology. In her free time, Erin enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her family, friends, and 3 dogs.

Ayana Alexander

Ayana Alexander is the Assistant Director, Educational Experiences at the Edyth Bush Institute responsible for open enrollment training and education.

Ayana is a true Floridian. She has resided in Central Florida for over 20 years and enjoys calling the Sunshine State home. Her passion for serving others began at a young age within her family business, and through this experience blossomed over 20 years of child welfare and non-profit experience. Ayana is passionate about the success of others and the enrichment of her community. She is a powerful force in any setting and uses her positive attitude and untiring energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed.

Ayana is a proud graduate of the University of Central Florida holding an MS degree in Criminal Justice, a BA degree in Psychology, and an AS degree in Funeral Services from Miami Dade College; and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Ayana remains inspired daily by her family and her two children.  In her free time, Ayana enjoys traveling, soccer, and shopping.
